What are my rights as a therapy client?
Right to confidential services and knowing the limits confidentiality
I am legally and ethically bound to keep all client information confidential except under very specific circumstances, such as instances of suspected abuse and/or neglect of a child, threats to severely harm or kill yourself or another individual, and court subpoenas to produce therapy records, ordered by a judge. You have the right to know when disclosure will occur. If you would like me to talk to someone regarding your therapy, I will need to sign a release form. If I would like to talk to someone regarding you (or your child's) therapy, I will let you know, and you can either sign a release form to allow me to do this, or you can refuse. You always have the right to refuse to sign a release of information. In addition, client records are stored and secured according to professional guidelines. If you have any questions about confidentiality, please ask me.
Right to be treated with dignity and respect
As a mental health professional, I aim to treat all clients with respect regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, political belief, religion, and mental or physical disability. Furthermore, all clients have the right to have considerate and respectful treatment at all times under all circumstances.

Right to terminate treatment at any time
I provide voluntary services only. If, at any time, you are dissatisfied with the service, or you feel that continuing the service is not in your best interest, you have the right to discontinue without complications. Furthermore, clients have the right to see any mental health provider of their choice. If, for whatever reason, you feel as though I am not a good fit for your mental health needs, you may choose another provider or ask for a referral to a different provider.
Right to understanding the service, ask questions about therapy process, therapist counseling style, and therapy techniques
If you ever have any questions about the specific therapy you are getting, please ask me.
Right to know any and all benefits and risks of the services and therapy techniques
For more information of benefits and risks of the services I provide, please read the informed consent page. Acknowledgment that you have read and understand this page automatically states that you understand all benefits and risks of the services provided.
Right to understand the purpose of the therapeutic relationship and limits to this relationship
The therapeutic relationship is a professional helping relationship. I am here to meet your needs in a mental health capacity only. This means that I am unable to have dual relationships with you, such as but not limited to accepting goods or services in place of payment, romantic or casual friendship relations with you.
